James Eugene Hollis, 73, of Centralia, Illinois passed away at 9:11 P.M. June 23, 2017 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born February 29, 1944 in Breese, Illinois, son of Roscoe R. and Laura (Jenner) Hollis.
Jim graduated from Carrier Mills, Illinois High School. He attended Vennard Collage in University Park, Iowa, and received a Certificate of Biblical Studies.
Jim worked in the library of Vennard Collage for many years and later was circulation librarian for Willliam Penn Collage in Oscaloosa, Iowa.
Jim loved to sing, and he shared his talent with many churches and choirs. After retirement, he moved to Centralia, Illinois, where he was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Vera Hollis Byrd and Ronald Hollis.
Jim is survived by his brother, Robert Hollis and wife, Clarice, of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother-in-law, Loren Byrd of Centralia, Illinois; nephew, Marlin Hollis and wife, Kenna of Rochester, Illinois; niece, Brenda Holle and husband, Tom of Centralia; uncle, Gerald Jenner of Bond County; and many cousins.
A Memorial Service and Burial will take place at a later date in New Douglas, Illinois.
